Doctoral and Masters Degrees

Understanding human impacts on global cycles and climate change, remediating hazardous wastes, providing potable water, reducing air pollution, and evaluating the effects of chemical products on organisms and ecosystems are just a few of the activities that engage faculty and students working in Environmental Engineering Science at Duke.

Graduate Programs at the Masters and Doctoral levels are offered through the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the the Pratt School of Engineering and the Nicholas School of the Environment. The appropriate degree program for an individual student will depend on his or her career objectives and academic preparation. Typically, applicants for admission to these programs have an undergraduate preparation in science, engineering, or mathematics. In selecting a degree program, potential applicants are invited to consider areas of faculty expertise that match their own interests, keeping in mind that there are no institutional barriers to collaboration across disciplines. In all cases, the resources of both the Pratt and Nicholas Schools are available to students as they pursue their degrees.
